A second wedding dress can be purchased at a wedding boutique or department store, but they can also be shopped for at vintage boutiques, consignment shops or online.  Dresses for the second wedding can really show off a bride’s personal style, and these dresses may be a shorter length cocktail dress or even a suit that the bride can wear again later.

It is important to note that despite some ideas, wedding dresses for second marriages can still be white—there is no hard or fast rule that says an encore bride cannot wear ivory, although many brides do decide to opt for another color, such as an off-white dress or a pastel.  The bride should go with what she feels is best, and can even feel free to color coordinate her dress to the wedding’s theme colors.

The wedding dresses for second marriage rarely include a full veil. A blusher veil that covers the face is strictly reserved for first time brides, but if the wedding is formal, second weddings can include a veil that cascades down the bride’s back.  Fresh flowers in the hair or behind the ear are a beautiful substitute and should match the dress accordingly.

Additionally, wedding dresses for second marriage can really be all about the bride.  It is her wedding, after all, and she should be allowed to wear what she wants on her special day.  Since it is an encore performance, it is great to step outside of the traditional lines of the first wedding and really choose a dress that is best suited to her personality, rather than one that is dictated by the ‘rules’.
