Men’s’ wedding attire is much simpler than women’s but there are still many options. It is important to keep in mind the type of wedding when choosing one’s attire.

For formal weddings, a tux is always the proper way to go for both the groom and the guests, but of course the tux can be dressed up with tails, funky ties, colorful cummerbunds and patterned vests.  If the wedding is ‘ultra formal’ or ‘white tie’ a tux with tails, a white tie and even a top hat is usually the option. What a man should wear to a wedding

While the women are usually the ones trying to figure out what to wear, and dashing from boutique to boutique, what a man should wear to a wedding is a question that should come up at some point.  A man’s attire is just as important as the woman’s, because he, too, needs to fit in.

When shopping for wedding attire for men, just keep in mind that a suit is most often the right choice unless the invitations specifically states ‘black tie’ or ‘white tie.’  A suit is a great choice for less formal affairs.  They work perfectly for afternoon weddings or even night weddings that are not too formal.

As for suit color, black or charcoal work best, but a dark blue will often work just as well.  At black tie optional weddings, men often sport suits in linen, tweed or cotton, and opt for lighter, earthier colors in addition to these darker colors.  It depends upon one’s own personal fashion sense, and it is always acceptable to accessorize with a colorful, printed tie (but nothing too silly, it is, after all, a wedding).

Men’s’ beach wedding attire

In addition, men’s beach wedding attire is fun and light.  Men can wear drawstring linen pants or cotton and linen blend pants.  These can be paired with flowing and loose rayon shirts.  Men may even decide to go for a Hawaiian look, opting for island prints with their linen pants.  Of course, for a more formal beach wedding, men should wear a light suit.

Men’s casual wedding attire

Men’s casual wedding attire is perfect for weddings in the spring and summer, when the temperatures are much warmer.  This is especially true for day weddings.  Opt for light suits, or if the wedding is outdoors, linen pants and a lightweight shirt.

Men’s wedding suits are perfect for night weddings, and the material of the suit should be dictated by the weather. Opt for heavier suits in winter, such as wool suits, and lighter cotton suits (or linen) in warmer months.
